| Oakworth is a medium sized village located in the southern Pennines of West Yorkshire. Close by are the villages of Haworth Keighley and Skipton which is known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The name Oakworth indicates that the village was first established in a heavily wooded area.
Oakworth has a claimed to fame as it was the location of the filming of the classic 1970 film version of E.E. Nesbitt's novel The Railway Children. It is a stop on the route of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Holden Park is the former grounds of a historic house once owned by Sir Isaac Holden, an inventor who is said to have invented the Lucifer match and revolutionised the process of wool carding. His house was called Oakworth House.
